Robbing Texas
This nation cannot afford another redistricting ruled by the Texas GOP. The 2010 elections in Texas are critical in determining who has a voice during redistricting.
Before our crucial reporting period on Dec 31, we have set a goal to raise $50,000. With your donation of $1,000, $500, $250, $100, $50, $25, you will prove that we are positioned to elect a Democratic AG to sit on the Legislative Redistricting Board (LRB).
The head of the Texas House Redistricting Committee made it clear: mid-decade redistricting would never have happened without an AG Opinion, quickly provided by Texas AG Abbott. The truth about the unprecedented plan, later exposed by the Washington Post: it was opposed by every Department of Justice career voting rights act expert. Political appointees overruled career experts.
The Texas Attorney General falsely claimed the plan had been approved by career Department of Justice people, not by political hack-superiors. His falsehood wasn't exposed until 2 years later, but the damage was done.
The Texas Attorney General robbed the people of Texas of over 100 years of Congressional seniority. Without the AG's actions, Tom Delay's mid-decade redistricting would never have occurred.
Please donate to ensure that Texas isn't robbed in the next rounds of redistricting. Your support will ensure that we have an effective advocate with a seat on the Legislative Redistricting Board.
The Texas GOP continues to prove they are dedicated to appealing to the fanatical elements of their party. The December Houston mayoral runoff results proved in Houston what the pollsters have been saying about all of Texas: wedge issues aren't working. Republican pollsters (we have the poll) predict Texas to go Democratic, statewide, the way of Colorado if the Republicans continue to push wedge issues.
In 2010, we have an opportunity to end the destructive one party rule of Texas. Voters are ready to reject the failed policies and leaders of the Texas GOP, but we need your support to let the voters know about Barbara Ann. Your donation by Dec 31 of $1,000, $500, $250, $100, $50, $25, will demonstrate that Texans are ready to elect an AG who will use the massive power of the office wisely. The money we raise before the end of the year will help us pay for opposition research and direct voter contact.
The Texas GOP continues to believe that the voters are interested in their divisive wedge issues. We know that the voters are interested in having reasonable leaders who know how to get things done. It's time for them to meet Barbara Ann. Donate and please forward this request to the people you know who care about good government.
